this is the first from a three-part series of a freshly squeezed vinyl collaboration between detroits xplor music and colognes psycho thrill rec. imprint that breathes new life into the venerable relationship between those two techno cities since the days when motor city deejays hit the cologne club ground first in 1991.

optimo trax is an offshoot label of optimo music for tracks aimed at djs/dancefloors. yes, we know there are too many record labels already, but we felt an overriding desire to start another one as so much music that didnt seem quite right for optimo music (i.e. music that was specifically designed for dancing) kept coming our way. like the parent label, optimo trax will release music by new artists and excavate forgotten classics. luma is a project by dave clark from glasgow. dave had his first release as a member of state of flux in 1993 on t&b vinyl, the label twitch ran with his dj partner of that era, brainstorm. twitch and dave have continued to work together in various ways ever since. he has released records as truffle club, and as big ned on optimo music as well as working with twitch from 2005 - 2010 remixing a plethora of artists under the optimo (espacio) moniker before fatherhood necessitated him focusing on changing nappies rather than programming synths. dave has also recorded under various aliases for r&s, numbers, stuffrecords, dissident and wireblock. the twentieth anniversary of that first release seemed a fitting date for dave to unleash his monster new club music alter ego, luma on optimo trax. twitch thinks dave is the best producer in scotland and endlessly weeps into his gin and tonics about how unprolific dave is, so was ecstatic when the 4 killer tracks were delivered that make up this third optimo trax ep. these have been thoroughly road tested over the last few months at gigs around the world.

pov is joakim x crackboy and they make arab ghetto techno (which is sort of legitimate since they both have arabic/middle eastern roots). crowdspacer (or crwdspcr as a tribute to merce cunninghams dance performance) is a vinyl-only label dedicated to outstanding club music launched by tigersushis founder and musician/dj/producer, joakim.

the teng records imprint returns with the *sweet dreams* ep this october, by louis guilliaume. comprising three original cuts from the dutch producer. louis guilliaumes mpc inflected house and techno grooves have been found on reputable labels such as glasgow underground, home taping is killing music and biorhythm, and the rotterdam based producer can boast appearances at two leading lights in the nightclub game, namely, berlins berghain and glasgows sub club.

after featuring on the one records va released earlier this year with *besides*, young frenchmen yamen & eda are back on board the label with *planet brooklyn*. the release features two seductively deep solid club tracks with one special remix coming from dream team shaun reeves, jay haze and bill patrick and another from label head subb-an.

every deejay or clubber who ever been to brussels heard of the wood club. for 4 years, the house in the middle of the bois de la cambre is resonating with electronic beats and is full of party people and music lovers from thursday to saturday. 1-st release to new label wood records (12inch white vinyl)

if chicago and detroit are the cities in which house and techno were born and raised, it was in italy circa 1990 that this delirious party music experienced a piano-driven coming of age. so far, so spangled. but while that may be the official story, there are other italian narratives too. take francois le roy and nanni for instance - two djs and producers from southern italy for whom, in the early nineties, the likes of aphex twin, autechre and air liquide were important, alongside the machine funk of detroit and the immersive soundtracks of the ambient generation. both artists are steeped in underground club music, and their new release on shabby doll records is a fine example of tough, tech-edged house. the *crossing roads* ep features four tracks that showcase their melodic yet relentless groove, they may be based in milan, but on this record, the influence of detroit, chicago and new york runs deep.

in the 70s radio stations were a powerful force across the whole of the us, and anyone with a transistor radio had access all kinds of music. live music was another matter altogether, and unless you found yourself in a major city your nights out were limited to what the local talent had to offer. this was especially so with soul and funk acts, as mainstream rock and pop was where the money was. so for small time oklahoma soul bands such as husband and wife charles and barbara burtons groups messengers inc - and later burton inc - times were tough. however, like many purveyors of soul, tough times were no match for those with determination, persistence and a story to tell. many artists scraped enough money together to make a 45 or two on their own label, but the burtons took this to another level – they got themselves organised and released their own full length lps.

a special record originated from a special day. mr. gs spree to detroits movement festival ended at the notorious need i say more? matinee. held yearly in the backyard of the reputable veterans club the old miami and helmed by a promoters crew named visionquest it cultivates debauchery and fine music. back home, mr. g produced these two tracks with two djs in mind. unsurprisingly, they stroke the mind of djs. heavy bass, mean percussion, double bass, walkie talkie voices! what do you need more?

a few words by steffen bennemann: when i heard margot for the first time, i instantly fell in love with their synth-driven free- form kraut-techno. strong melodies, insanely well-shaped beats, sometimes driving, sometimes bravely bending the rules. after great releases on james holdens border community, ivan smagghes kill the dj and their own label we were more than happy to welcome them in our holger family. here they can show their more experimental side, far beyond common floor/listening conventions and full of synapse-tickling synth magic. plus a secret pop hit (trentaseitrenta), perfect for closing any exceptional club night.

great follow up of dolly dubs 01! once again staffan lindberg is delivering. his nice & smooth the orbit is a great & optimistic club track that will have the sun shine on any floor, with the mighty trevino remix adding a slightly rough edge to the original version. but dont let the easy-going fool you! the b-side dives in deeper territories with y2k that reminds a bit of early kevin saunderson works, and feel like dancing, which is a proper sexy house burner for the morning hours. wonderful & diverse release.

es ist geschafft, der wohlbekannte berliner club ritter butzke startet sein hauseigenes plattenlabel! den anfang machen der langjaehrige resident mario aureo und sein schweizer kollege manuel moreno, welcher im legendaeren hive club in zuerich sein zu hause gefunden hat. der titeltrack >autumn bell< ist ein durch praegnante sub- und lange lead-baesse getragener house-track, der vor allem durch die eingängigen vocals und seine atmosphaerischen pads, auch noch nach einer langen umtriebigen clubnacht, im gedächtnis bleibt. die dub version von >autumn bell< ist dahingehend etwas reduzierter und fokussiert sich auf den groove, ohne dass dabei die energie des originals auf der strecke bleibt. die b-seite ist mit >arosis< etwas deeper gehalten und besticht, trotz vieler string-variationen und filterverlaeufen, durch seine unaufgeregte grundstimmung, die den track fast zu jeder tages- und nachtzeit spielbar macht. dazu gesellt sich ein remix von bachstelzen-urgestein und ursl-mitbegruender sebo, der das thema etwas minimalistischer aufgreift und durch zusätzliche vocals und ein sehr abwechslungsreiches arrangement eine ganz eigene sound-welt, in der man sich wunderbar verlieren kann, erzeugt. der grundstein ist somit gelegt und in den naechsten monaten werden weitere spannende veroeffentlichungen von kuenstlern aus dem ritter butzke umfeld folgen.

pareto park presents the first collaboration between george lanham and david meiser with the pair serving up a blend of abrasive modern techno and classic influences. the opener distress sets the tone and grabs the listener from the start with its moody vocals punctuating a sinister beat. lanham s cabot cove syndrome hits hard with a growling synth lead, pushed forward by a building siren. whilst rising entropy and co operation 1 both reveal the duo s mills influences, yet aimed at modern club play. a strong ep with the vinyl release featuring 4 additional locked grooves.

r&s keep things in the family with mpia3s brother tessela dropping his debut ep for the label. since 2011, ed russell has been moulding a style of dance music as tessela that has evolved to become a distinctly futuristic animal that is equal parts rave, jungle and techno as it incorporates classic breaks into delirious new mutations. the three tracks on this ep all follow on from his superb *hackney parrot* track but evolve his sound even further. nancys pantry combines bruising kick drums and some slick editing of the think break, before plunging headlong into thundering techno. horizons percolating hi hats and rough-hewn percussion roll off repeating chords that recall the heady days of rave. gateways uncomplicated arrangement of high hats, sub bass, siren like synths and quaking kick drums rattle through the tracks chassis and club soundsystems. early supporters to the tracks include ben ufo, pariah, surgeon, pearson sound and paul woolford, testement to what might be tesselas most lethal offering yet.

a word from label boss chris farrell: this is the new one on idle hands, from us producer strategy. i first came across paul dickows work when he released a 12 inch called *world house* on his own community library label back in 2005. it blew me away. in the ensuing years my friend duncan george who promoted bristol’s best electronic music night - under_score tried on numerous ocasions to book him for a bristol date but it never quite hapened due to the usual things that go wrong in club land. in those years duncan kept in touch with paul and last year suggested to him that it might be worth sending some tracks to me, which he did at the start of 2013… add a peverelist remix and you have the tracks here before you, dub reggae informed house and psychedelic 2 step vibes.
